Behold Your Master Come Quickly

HYMN

Go, labor on; spend, and be spent
Go, labor on; spend, and be spent;
Thy joy to do the Father’s will;
It is the way the Master went;
Should not the servant tread it still?

Go, labor on: ’tis not for nought;
Thy earthly loss is heav’nly gain;
Men heed thee, love thee, praise thee not;
The Master praises, what are men?

Go, labor on; your hands are weak,
Your knees are faint, your souls cast down;
Yet falter not; the prize you seek
Is near, a kingdom and a crown

Go, labor on while it is day,
The world’s dark night is hastening on;
Speed, speed thy work, cast sloth away,
It is not thus that souls are won.

Men die in darkness at your side,
Without a hope to cheer the tomb;
Take up the torch and wave it wide,
The torch that lights time’s thickest gloom.

Press on, faint not, keep watch and pray;W
Be wise the erring soul to win;
Go forth into the world’s highway,
Compel the wanderer to come in

Press on, and in thy work rejoice;
For work comes rest, the prize thus won;
Soon shalt thou hear the Master’s voice,
The midnight cry, Behold, I come!

Bible Text:

Revelation 22 vs 6 - 20
And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

  • Behold I come quickly was repeated 3 times in above chapter – vs 7, 12 & 20.  Whenever there is a repetition in His word, it is for emphasis and it means it is very important and one need to take it seriously.

  • The dictionary meaning of Behold – To see or observe someone or something especially of remarkable or impressive nature.  View, watch survey, gaze at, gaze upon, stare at, scan, witness, regard, inspect etc.

  • To draw people’s attention to something……. Notice, consider pay heed to.

  • Look up and take your focus off your struggles, difficulties, inhumanities, inconsistences of this world because I am coming.

  • In other words, your understanding is different now, you don’t have the same perspective as the world, you are not the same person you were or you used to be.

  • Remember 2 cor 5 vs 17 if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away, “Behold” all things are new.

  • Behold he is coming, are you ready?vs 6 says these words are faithful and true, very certain because it says surely in vs 20. Ish 40 vs 8 says the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of God stands forever. Fixed, will not be moved or change.

  • Vs 7 says blessed, happy is the one who keeps/ obeys the words of this prophesy or commandment. If we disbelieve it, we loose the blessings, joy and happiness which accompany it but if we adjust our lives and line up our lives with it. Blessings, joy and happiness will be ours and we live as if he may come today.  Just as vs 11 says “ He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still”

  • Vs 12 says My Reward is with me….. God has the reward and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him Heb 11 vs 6. He is not a taskmaster who shortchanged workers. I cor 3 8-15 says that our useless acts as believers will be burned up but our righteous acts will remain and be rewarded.

  • He is definitely coming, the Angel has warned us through John, Jesus is calling us to come, the spirit and the bride are calling us to come, when life hurts call Jesus to come, when day is hard, when night is dark, come and when we don’t know what to do call Him to come.

  • It is also a call for the thirsty….. for Him and for lost souls……….. we should call the world to come to Him. Matt 11 vs 28 Come to me all those who are weary and tired, I will give you rest. He died for the whole world and we cannot keep this to ourselves.

PRAYERS
  • Father help me to be ready for your coming. Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. I cor 10 vs 12.
  • Open my eyes to see the old things that suppose to pass away in my life and obedient heart to be ready to embrace the new you have in store for me. 2 cor 5 vs 17.
  • Give me thirst and passion for lost souls, wisdom and strategy to use at every point in time. Holy spirit help me!
  • At your appearance, let me not be ashamed. Lord, the LORD Almighty, may those who hope in you not be disgraced because of me; God of Israel, may those who seek you not be put to shame because of me. Ps 69 vs 6
