KINGDOM LABOURERS

HYMN: Holy words long preserved

Who exactly can be referred to as a kingdom labourer?

There are two kingdoms as it were the kingdom of Darkness and the kingdom of light, but this afternoon, we are referring to the kingdom of God, the kingdom of light, the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Every believer becomes a labourer in this kingdom, immediately they become genuinely saved, not just by lip service or just prophesying it carelessly, there must be an evidence of 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”

The main Labour commission is “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth ”Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” Mathew 28:18-20

·      So as co labourers in the vineyard we have a responsibility to ensure that even as we strive to make heaven, we will be taking as many as possible with us.

·      As kingdom labourers, we are expected to occupy until either He comes back or we get raptured.

·      A good account of what is expected of us is in the book of Luke 19: 12 – 27, it is a very well-known story of a noble man who went away for a while but gave his servants some minas ( money) and he said in verse 13” So he called Ten of His servants, delivered   to them ten minas and said to them ”Do business till I come”  We are expected to do kingdom business till Jesus comes.

·      The question is are you doing business as it were? Do people in your neighbourhood, office, Market place where you do your business know and can testify that you are a kingdom labourer? How are we occupying for Him till he comes?

·      Another  expectation of kingdom labourers is that we should be fruitful, and not barren, In the biblical account in Mark 11:12-14,20, the tree was cursed for not being fruitful, even though it was not the season of figs, so we are expected to bear fruits in and out of season” No Excuses” for kingdom labourers, we should give unparallel  labour.

·      Brethren as kingdom labourers everything about us should depict kingdom lifestyle. Our very life should be an epistle to be read and men would be pointed to Calvary, we cannot afford to live a careless life.

PRAYERS

·      Let us thank God for the gift of our salvation, that we are called after the name of Jesus, many are still in the world and they are hopeless, but His Mercy found me and you and that is the reason why we can be referred to as Labourers  in the kingdom.” As many as are led by the spirit of God they are the sons of God” Romans 8:14.

·      Let us thank God that we are in an environment whereby we have freedom to worship without any form of hinderance. A lot of people cannot worship Publicly, they hide in huts and have services underground, even though they love God and want to worship Him.

·      In Luke 19:13, there was an instruction to occupy/ do business till He returns, we  are going to ask for grace, that even as we have laid our hands on the plough, we will not be distracted, the love of the things of the world will not make us Miss it in the place of assignment, we will not entangle ourselves with the things of the world.” No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier” 2 Timothy 2:4.

·      Pray for grace to be faithful to the end that the Zeal for the work of the kingdom will overwhelm us, the fire will burn in our bones, that nothing, nobody will take the place or override the kingdom assignment of occupying and populating the kingdom of God.

·      Pray that the labourers in the kingdom will be on the increase, as many that have backslidden, we call them forth and snatch them from the hands of the enemy. Let us receive Grace to make more disciples, the time for excuses is over, time is not on our side, tomorrow might be too late. The word of God records in Luke 10:2 “Then He said to them” The harvest truly is great, but, the labourers are few, therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest. “Go your way; behold, I send you out as Lambs among wolves”

·      It is important that we pray that the Holy Spirit help us to be kingdom labourers that will make a difference in our circle of influence and our very lives will point men to the Cross. We can do nothing without the Help of the Holy Spirit

·      Pray that as many who are being persecuted because they want to be genuine kingdom labourers, and are on the verge of being discouraged, be at work, in their family, neighbourhood etc, that the Lord will strengthen them and grant them grace to continue to press on to the end.
